Nationwide Conveyor Awarded Large SBD Contract
Nationwide Conveyor Specialists LLC, a CT based company specializing in
Conveyor, Air cargo, and Airport baggage handling systems was recently
instrumental in a major renovation of the San Bernardino Int’l Airport in
San Bernardino, CA, formerly Norton Air Force Base.
An estimated 350 million has been spent on improvements to SBD. It has been
the site for several blockbuster films and new commercial property plans.
The new developments and renovations allow for a variety of new services
such as cargo and aircraft maintenance, and upscale aviation services.
Nationwide Conveyor was responsible for the refurbishment and installation
of all the baggage claim and make-up conveyor units. NCS removed the pate
claim units from the old terminal 8 at JFK Int’l Airport in New York and
shipped the eight truckloads to San Bernardino Airport. NCS then refurbished
all the equipment and installed it into the renovated terminal. According to
airport officials, this refurbishment project helped save millions.
“There were several stages to this project which made it very unique,” says
Richard Bugryn, owner and Director of Operations of Nationwide Conveyor
Specialists, LLC. “This was probably one of the biggest jobs we’ve worked
on.”
This was just the first phase of the conversion plan. A fifth inbound unit
in the new FIS building is scheduled for the upcoming year. A spring 2009
opening was scheduled for the first passenger service but officials are
still waiting for an announcement by the commercial airline they have been
in talks with.
